Economic Stimulus Package
The economic stimulus package passed in February 2009 will have far-reaching effects on physician practices. Practices can qualify for bonuses under Medicare and Medicaid for implementing health information technology (HIT). The law also substantially expands and modifies the HIPAA privacy and security requirements, and makes changes to COBRA laws that will impact physicians who are employers.
